5/5 for the program itself but points off for availability. the software author uses a russian one-click download site (like rapidshare but in cyrillic?) to host the installer rather than something standard (and free) like google code or even mediafire. difficult to find the old-school version for xp otherwise (which is a separate program from the newer version 4 for vista+).***request for fileforum to host the xp version on a mirror here!***i love this app, and have dozens of icons that i've collected over the years, everything from osx folders to linux folders to old-school "classic" mac folders from os 9 and below. :) after a reinstall of my xp system i wanted to re-download folderico once more, but have a few qualms about the simplest (and safest) way of acquiring it. (my av program actually deleted the .rar file from the desktop and put it in quarantine. somehow i'm more than a little queasy about downloading anything from a ddl hoster with tons of banner ads and a paypal "donation" request written in cyrillic. call me paranoid but i'm still on guard after the conficker scare about a year ago.)alll of this is no indictment of folderico, though. folderico itself works great, and isn't intrusive at all; it doesn't change anything about your system, like patching .dll files or messing with the registry -- it just puts a little ~1kb .ini file in the root of the customized folder, and uses only a simple interface or an easily accessible shell menu for the icon sets. unfortunately, it's not easy to come by (at least for xp) and the newer version requires jumping through some annoying hoops just to gain access to a download of this fine app.so 3/5 for the scattershot distribution model; maybe google code is blocked in the author's country or something (i think...albania?), and he can't afford a web-host, making folderico one of those easy to find, but hard to get, apps that deserve more attention for how they "just work." style xp and the stardock suites be damned. some benevolent comrade should distribute a little wealth to the software author and help him pay a few rubles for a decent hosting package of his own. :-)edit: i was just now able to locate folderico xp edition on the author's google sites mirror. 4/5 as i think the download link on the homepage should redirect there rather than to the russian ddl hoster. (still 5/5 for folderico itself.) :-d
i wellcome a support for epub. but i am missing some basic features, like save and automaticaly recover last position in all books i readed/opened. table of contents and more...
transmission's great, but there's no windows version. this is for windows.i think they're rolling out apps for this mainline version (7.1) before they roll them into the stable utorrent build in 2.2. might be worth trying out.
very interesting network in its early stages. has support for gnutella and bittorrent so far over i2p, with more to come. definately worth checking out :)
you must install avg browser toolbar and there is no way around it.
a recent news report on bbc which i can't find showed tor is being used by the depraved among us to access child abuse etc. though these are in the minority those hosting tor need to be aware of at least in the uk indecent material just passing though their servers can implicate them despite being innocent themselves & resulted in this case of pc gear being seized.the flip side is recently i visited a large caribbean island where internet restrictions are draconian & totally suppresses residents being able to access information that may be deemed to be against the state (basic freedom of information) & for these people who can actually own pc␙s proxy servers are a lifeline to factual information although the restrictions i saw are so tight the likes of tor are no longer that helpful.
very easy to use and very handy, don't know how i got along without this program for so many years. thank you teamviewer.
this is the best of the best
